4 Best Cloud Computing Practices

Submitted 2/11/2014 by Kaloyan Georgiev

Cloud computing has it's benefits, but there is still more work to be done when it comes to using it for your business. Take a look at these four practices that can protect you when using the cloud:

1. Keep up to date with security - new security threads are coming up everyday and cloud computing is constantly evolving and adapting to them, so you will need to upgrade your security system as much as possible, because unprotected operating systems tend to attract more hacker attacks;

2. Backup your cloud service - cloud service is one of the most secure services out there, but bad things come in different packages, so a big problem can turn the lights off for your vendor and put your information at risk. That's why you should always have a backup of your info, not full backup, but just the things you need to pick up working right where you left off. The backup can come in handy when you encounter a security breach and need to change infected files etc.;

3. Keep track of the services - most of the times a company will use more than one  software-as-a-service, so it will need to keep track of the information available to the different vendors of those services. This knowledge can be critical if a major problem appears. Also, it is your private information, you always have to keep track of it;

4. Keep an eye on the security policies of the vendor - as I said before, cloud computing changes and evolves every second, so it isn't a surprise that vendors will update regularly their security policies, so they can be up to date with the world of the cloud. So, always make sure that you know the latest changes and news about the vendor's way of work, because you want to know how your information is saved;
